Square's Tom Sawyer (スクウェアのトム・ソーヤ) is a Famicom RPG released by Square in Japan on November 30, 1989. Loosely based on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, it sends Tom, Huck and friends around the towns, forests, caves and mansions of the Mississippi in search of pirate treasure. Exploration is side-scrolling, the story is packed with action events and mini games, and there is no experience point system at all: party members grow stronger simply by fighting, and you can rename your own special attacks. The character designs draw on the World Masterpiece Theater anime adaptation, and an arrangement of that anime's opening theme plays in the game.

The "Square's" in the title is there because Seta had already released its own Famicom Tom Sawyer game, which reached North America as Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Square's take never left Japan. It is also remembered by Japanese players for Fukoumushi (ふこうむし), an enemy whose infamous trick is to "press" the reset button mid-battle. The staff roll credits the game to the "Square B Team," with Hiromichi Tanaka producing.
