Secret of Mana — Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan — is Square's 1993 action RPG and one of the most beloved games on the platform. Originally planned as a launch title for the Nintendo PlayStation CD-ROM add-on before that project collapsed and was redesigned as a cartridge release. The ring command system, real-time action combat with a stamina meter, weapon upgrade paths, and three-player simultaneous co-op via the SFC multitap were all landmark achievements.
