The monster recruitment system lets players capture and train enemies, a mechanic that influenced the genre significantly in the years that followed. The game was Japan-exclusive on Super Famicom for nineteen years — an official Western translation did not arrive until the Nintendo DS remake in 2009. This cartridge is Yuji Horii's 1992 original.
