Baku Bomberman — known in the West as Bomberman 64 — is Hudson Soft's 1997 leap into 3D for the N64, and a genuinely ambitious reinvention of the Bomberman formula. Rather than the top-down arena gameplay the series was built on, it introduced a fully 3D action platformer structure where bombs could be pumped up and thrown, used to climb terrain, and chained into devastating combos. The single player adventure mode was deeper than anything the series had attempted before. The Japanese version carries the Baku Bomberman title and branding used exclusively in Japan. A strong early N64 title and an essential piece of the Bomberman catalog.
