Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere is the most important and most controversial entry in the entire Ace Combat franchise, and the Japanese version is a fundamentally different game from the Western release. The Japanese original is a two-disc release with a full science fiction narrative set in a near-future corporate war, featuring five separate story routes, branching missions, fully voiced cutscenes, and multiple endings determined by player choices across the campaign. When Namco localized it for Western markets they cut virtually all of it — the branching story, the voice acting, the multiple routes — leaving a stripped-down single disc with no narrative context. Western players effectively received a different game. This copy is the Japanese original with disc 1 only — the complete story content and all mission branches are present on disc 1; disc 2 contains additional content. For Ace Combat fans, the Japanese PS1 original is the version that matters.
